While watching the unfolding tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, Jeff Selis wondered what he could do to help. When he heard that the Oregon Humane Society had rescued animals from the area, he committed to photographing the 78 dogs and 15 cats with his 1965 Polaroid Land Camera. The result is a beautiful book of pictures and touching stories of these animal refugees.

Published by Wieden+Kennedy, all profits from the sale of Tails from Katrina go to the Oregon Humane Society, which spent nearly a month in New Orleans and Baton Rouge rescuing and providing safety to hundreds of pets left behind. The animals within these pages were brought back to the OHS shelter and put into loving foster care through the OHS volunteer network. They were not made available for adoption until after all efforts had been made to reunite them with their original owners from Louisiana.
