My friend just came home from the veterinarian last week, and brought home a notice that says they are now using a new vaccine that includes protection against two emerging forms of Leptospirosis - which appears to be a threat to dogs in rural and suburban areas. There are two types of Leptospirosis that they are protecting against: Lepto canicola and Lepto icterohaemorrhagiae (gosh, and I thought Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious was a big word!)
The vaccine also is supposed to protect against two emerging forms of Lepto: Lepto pomona and Lepto grippotyphosa.
Do any of you chattypets out there know what this is? If it is healthy to get these shots for me? What happens if I get the diseases? How can I get these diseases? Oh my! I just have so many questions.
