Hello all!  My name is Isis (but you may call me 'Ice'), I'm a Border Collie Mix.  I am so happy to be alive and here in Winona, Minnesota, USA.  I was so close to not being able to sniff any more smells or run head first into trees (yeah yeah, it MOVED, I swear).  This great lady, Sally, arranged to save me from a cage in Ohio.  I wasn't there long, but I got to see that many of my new friends there didn't stop by my cage more than once or twice.  I saw a lot of crying too.  But, now, I've got this wonderful home with my owner Todd.

I became part of the pack on August, 10, 2007.  Our pack is currently small (only Todd and I for now), but I hear it will be growing constantly as he is going to start fostering and transporting pets for Sally.  I think it's a way to say thank you, and help her do what she loves to do.  I wasn't feeling too well at first, and I was a little underweight (only 20lbs, the nice lady in white said I should gain weight!  Can you believe it?!  SCORE!).  I've been lucky enough to have dad feed me chicken breasts all last week hoping I'd start to feel better.

I go everywhere with dad now.  I love "truck rides".  He had hopes that I'd be a frisbee dog, maybe agility, or even that game where I retrieve a tennis ball.  I think I like the idea of just doing a little bit of everything right now.  I'm so fast, but I don't want to stop the frisbee's fun of flying.  I also haven't found that running through a tunnel is all that much fun.  I have got a nice big extended family: (cousins) Duke (Mastiff), Maddie (Mastiff), Winchester (Spaniel), Remmington (Spaniel), Willy (Mastiff), Max (Maltise), Belle (Maltise), Maggie (Cocker), and Daisey (Bichon), and (Special friend) Mable (Cocker).

I'm one lucky girl!

What a week!
I'm so lucky I have a new forever home!  But, it's been quite trying here for everyone.  I have all these new people in the house!  I thought it'd just be dad and I for at least a few days (after moving the last group of rescues up to Eau Claire last Saturday).  Unfortunately, Saturday night there was a HUGE storm.  Lots of flashing light and loud noises!  I woke up when I heard some loud noises drive by our house.  Then more, and more.  I had to let dad know something was going on!  I barked as best I could (dad laughs at my bark all the time, I really have to practice more ;))

It turns out that there was water EVERYWHERE not too far from us.  Our 'first' park was under water and many of dad's friends had families that had to spend hours on their roofs.  (hey, that works...Roof!  Roof!  I'll have to ask dad if that's better later).  Dad and I took out our little boat and helped people the best we could. It was so dark and people were crying for help.  I did what I could and would bark if I saw anybody inside a house.  Dad was very proud of me.  It'd only been a week together and I was already fitting right in.  I even allowed a couple cats get into the boat with us.  It was awful, but they needed to be saved too.  Everyone liked riding in our boat and were so happy to see us.  They thanked us for coming and staying out in the rain to help them.  They were mostly crying.  Many found it better when I would walk over to them and lick them.  Some of the kids even shook my hand.

It was a very long night and Sunday.  Dad invited many of his friends' families to stay with us so they had somewhere.  Some people lost everything, homes, cars, pets, and even in some cases family.  Yes, indeed, what a week it's been.  Dad has been helping all these people and has time to take me for truck rides and visiting some of my new friends.  He tells me that I get to meet a whole bunch of new friends this Friday after he drives over to Tomah (where he picked me up).  Hmmmmm, I wonder?
